I developed a fictional exhibition about the visible traces of use on everyday objects.

The challenge

The identity needed to make modest things worth looking at without inventing a historical importance or provenance for them.

An inventory number gives each object a moment of attention. The kettle's chipped enamel and the spoon's worn surface become the images themselves.
